Types of Memberships

The Whitby Yacht Club has several different memberships to accommodate all types and levels of boaters. If you have any questions about the different types of levels of membership, please do not hesitate to reach out to us and we would be happy to help you figure out which one is right for you. 

 

Membership Categories

Senior 

A Senior Member shall have the right to be on the dock seniority list and hold a dock and shall have the right, if otherwise qualified, to seek any office in the Club and to vote on all matters requiring a vote of the membership.  These rights do not apply to any other category of membership.

Drysail 

Individuals who wish to participate in the activities of the Club and require marine facilities only for a boat (as defined from time to time by the Board) that can be launched/hauled by means of a ramp or other Club equipment approved by the Board, may apply to be a Dry Sail Member.

Social

Individuals who wish to participate in the activities of the Club but do not require marine facilities may apply to be Social Members. The ratio of Social Members to Senior Members shall be determined by resolution of the Board from time to time.

 

Senior Associate Member (SAM)

Anyone who has been a Senior Member in good standing for not less than three years, who’s member’s equity fee or debenture (1973), and debenture (2008) are fully paid, and who wishes to take an extended leave from the Club of not less than 12 months may apply for SAM. Dinghy

Individuals who wish to participate in the activities of the Club and require marine facilities only for a dinghy (as defined from time to time by the Board) that can be launched/hauled by means of a ramp or other Club equipment approved by the Board, may apply to be a Dinghy Member.
