Mayor's Cup Pursuit Race

Scheduled for July 13, 2024, the Mayor's Cup is a Medium Distance (MD) race run in a pursuit format, which means that slower boats start first and all boats should theoretically cross the finish line at the same time. It is not a qualifying event for club awards and championship but there is a standalone trophy presented by the Mayor of Whitby.

The race is between 8 and 10 nm in length depending on the turn mark selected by the Race Committee. Boats are placed in either the Non-Flying Sails (NFS) Division or the Flying Sails (FS) Division but the start time for a boat is based on its PHRF rating relative to the fastest boat in a Division. To compete, a boat must be registered and have a current PHRF-LO certificate.
