Due to COVID-19, our racing pogramme is currently on hiatus.  We hope to have some racing at some point in the summer. The Whitby Yacht Club normally enjoys an active racing program with One Design Racing on Tuesday Nights, based on the Shark 24 fleet, and Club Racing on Wednesday Nights. Club Racing involves four PHRF racing divisions, including flying and non-flying sail divisions, as well as a Shark 24 division.  There are also Medium Distance races from eight to twelve nautical miles length and Weekend Regattas. Our Long Distance race programme forms part of the Toronto East Long Distance Series (TELDS), the Whitby 50 and the Whitby 100.

Most racing is on a permanent course established by the club about a mile and a half from the harbour entrance in Lake Ontario. A devoted and much appreciated volunteer committee runs the races from the club's famous committee boat, Tanker Jones . First gun on Tuesdays and Wednesday nights is usually at 1830 hrs, and the bar is normally open after the race.  Wednesdays there is also dining room service. If you are interested in racing but don't own a boat, fill in the Crew Bank Application under the On Water tab on the menu.  Skippers are always looking for crew. Don't worry about experience.  Our skippers are ready to train and it is a great way to get on a boat and learn about racing!
