2013
2013 is the year for you, your family and friends to learn to sail or to improve the sailing skills you already have! The WYC Sailing School Adult program partners with Nautical Escapes to offer courses for all levels of sailing experience, from beginner to experienced racer, and puts the emphasis on safety and fun. The WYC Sailing School offers much more than just sailing lessons. Our unique adult programs are also designed to introduce you to the sailing community and lifestyle, with all its camaraderie, variety, and fun. We'll encourage you to take advantage of WYC's facilities and year-round social events: all adult courses include a complimentary WYC Social Membership, plus crewing opportunities on Wednesday Night Races.
Programs fill up very quickly, so be sure to register early!
CYA COASTAL NAVIGATION
This winter we will be offering a 26-hour in class Coastal Navigation course that also includes information on GPS and a mariners weather component. This course will cover knowledge of fixes, the marine compass, tides, currents, the buoyage system, charts and publications.
COURSE FEE $375
INTRODUCTION TO SAILING
This 3-hour course will focus on the pure joy of sailing from an experienced CYA instructor's point of view.
COURSE FEE $95 per person
CYA BASIC SAILING
This course offers up to 35 hours of sailing lessons. This very well designed course is suitable for both the total novice or for someone who has sailed but not taken any formal training. Upon completion of the course you will have The Basic Cruising Standard which is a CYA program that is accepted coast to coast, and also internationally. During the program you will learn about weather, chart reading, docking, knot tying, anchoring, emergency maneuvers, and of course sailing skills! All of our instructors have extensive training and experience. Once finished you will be able to take out a 20-30 foot sailboat in light to moderate conditions and bring her back safely.
COURSE FEE $695
INCLUDES: Lessons, use of a PFD, textbook, Basic exam, PCOC test, logbook, and logbook seal.
Choose from one of 3 formats: WEEKNIGHTS, WEEKENDS, OR WEEKDAYS

WEEKNIGHTS (Tuesdays and Thursdays 6pm-9:30pm) Classes run from May to September.
WEEKENDS (Sat & Sun 9am-5pm) Classes run from May to October.
CYA INTERMEDIATE SAILING
This course is the next step after you get comfortable with your Basic Sailing Skills. During this two weekend live aboard course you will learn all about big boat sailing which includes: boat systems, large boat handling skills, basic maintenance, applied navigation, arrivals in foreign ports and much more!
